Montjoi

The region:

Nestling in peaceful countryside, our guest house is ideally located for exploring the treasures of the South West. Although the immediate environment is decidedly rural, there are several characterful villages and lively towns nearby, offering a rich variety of discoveries, typical markets and cultural sites.

Montjoi (9 km)

Perched on the heights, this 13th-century bastide overlooks the Séoune valley. Take a stroll along the rampart walk, admire the view from the orientation table and lose yourself in the narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses full of character.

Moissac (10 km)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Moissac Abbey is a major landmark of Romanesque art. With its cloister, sculpted tympanum and monumental portal, it is a unique spiritual and artistic site on the route to Santiago de Compostela.

Auvillar (19 km)

A former inland waterway port on the Garonne, this listed village boasts a round market hall, cobbled streets and a peaceful atmosphere. An emblematic stopover for pilgrims on their way to Compostela.

Lauzerte (20 km)

The pearl of Quercy Blanc, Lauzerte combines a medieval heritage with an exceptional panorama. Its old town centre, stone and half-timbered houses and ‘pilgrim's garden’ tell the story of its rich past.

Montcuq (30 km)

The gentle way of life in Quercy is reflected here between the leafy avenue of plane trees and the typical white stone houses. Enjoying a drink on the terrace and soaking up the warm atmosphere of the Sunday market is a divine experience.

Montauban (35 km)

A city of art and history, birthplace of the painter Ingres, Montauban charms visitors with its arcaded Place Nationale, its museum, its mansions and its lively shopping streets.

Agen (38 km)

The capital of Lot-et-Garonne, Agen combines medieval heritage with a relaxed lifestyle. Stroll through the renovated historic centre, along the boulevards or beside the canal.

Lectoure (50 km)

Overlooking the Lomagne region of Gers, Lectoure is known for its thermal baths, ramparts, mansions and narrow streets lined with pale stone buildings. A village with timeless charm.

Toulouse (80 km)

Capital of Occitanie, university city and aeronautics hub, Toulouse charms visitors with its heritage, friendly atmosphere and gastronomy. Don't miss: Place du Capitole, Saint-Sernin Basilica, Cité de l'Espace, Airbus...

  • Valence d’Agen : Tuesday mornings

  • Lauzerte : Saturday mornings + gourmet market on Thursday evenings in summer

  • Auvillar : organic market on Wednesday evenings + Sunday market

  • Montcuq : Sunday mornings

Depending on the season, other themed markets are worth a visit: garlic from Beaumont-de-Lomagne, cep mushrooms from Vaïssac, truffles from Lalbenque, saffron from Caussade, foie gras markets in Castelsarrasin, Montauban, etc.



Acces

Our house is located:

  • 12 km from the A62 motorway (exit 9 Castelsarrasin – Moissac)

  • 45 minutes from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport

  • 30 km from Agen (TGV) and Montauban

  • 40 minutes from Cahors and the Lot Valley

Directions from the A62 motorway:

  1. Take the D813 towards Moissac

  2. Cross the bridge over the Tarn river, then the bridge over the Canal des Deux Mers

  3. After 150 metres, turn right towards Saint-Paul d'Espis/Bourg-de-Visa (D7)

  4. Continue for 9 kilometres towards Saint-Paul d'Espis

  5. You are now on the road to St-Jean

  6. The house is 100 m on your left after the church of Saint-Jean de Cornac
